Sterzing – Alpine town with medieval flair
From our hotel in Thuins, enjoy the view of Sterzing, South Tyrol’s northernmost town. Nestled in a picturesque mountain setting, the old Fugger’s town enchants with its magnificent houses, picturesque shopping streets, and incomparable charm.

The Dolomites – UNESCO World Heritage
The Dolomites mountain range is famous worldwide for its unique beauty. The rugged peaks reach over 3,000 metres above sea level. In the summer months, thanks to their spectacular rock formations and gentle Alpine pastures, the Dolomites are a real hiking paradise, while in winter they impress with their sunny mountainsides and perfectly groomed slopes.
Ötzi – the Ice Man
More than 5,000 years ago, a man climbed the icy heights of Val Senales/Schnalstal’s glacier and died. In 1991, two hikers found the well-preserved mummy. The find drew the world’s attention and provided a unique insight into life in the late Neolithic period.
Today you can see Ötzi at the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano. Travel back in time to days long past, learn about Ötzi’s fascinating story, and dive into our ancestors’ everyday life.
The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle
The lush gardens extend over more than 12 hectares in the form of a natural amphitheatre. Nature blossoms and sprouts, grows and flourishes in countless shapes and colours here. Both local plants and exotic varieties from all over the globe feel at home. Stroll through the picturesque gardens and enjoy the beauty of nature, or visit the experience stations where you can learn all kinds of interesting facts about the plant world. The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle are an unforgettable day trip for both young and old!
The gardens are open to visitors from April to November.
South Tyrolean Museum of Hunting and Fishing in Wolfsthurn Castle
On a hill above Mareit stands a magnificent Baroque building: Wolfsthurn Castle, one of the most beautiful castles in South Tyrol. Step inside and marvel at the richly decorated state rooms with antique furnishings and impressive hunting trophies. In the noble’s wing of the castle with its 365 windows, you’ll find the South Tyrolean Museum of Hunting and Fishing. You can combine your visit to Wolfsthurn Castle with a wonderful hike, for example the “Forest and Water” walking trail.
The castle is open to visitors from mid-April to mid-November.
